I had some of the same experience at my FW placement. We also worked with a few clients who were there for work hardening. It was really interesting to watch the progression, and i also liked that i got to form a stronger connection with them because they were there for so long. I feel like it helped with my planning for therapy sessions and gave me a better view of them for their occupational profile.

Eryn,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had a positive experience during your fieldwork rotation! It was very interesting for me to hear about your site, as mine was very different from yours. In a SNF, the focus is more regaining as much independence as possible and returning home or to the next level of care. The focus is not too often on work hardening, however, it can be. As Emily said, I too felt as though I gained a stronger connection to clients since I had more time to get to know them. Well done!
